Sonic Drive-In Rolls Into Kapolei With Exclusive Hawaii Menu and Skating Carhops

Sonic Drive-In is set to open its second Hawaii location in Kapolei, Oahu, within the next two weeks. The new restaurant will bring exclusive menu items and a classic drive-in experience to the island. Company leaders have shared their enthusiasm for the expansion. Construction on the Kapolei site began in April 2025, followed by a traditional blessing ceremony. The restaurant will stand at 5001 Kapolei Parkway, featuring five drive-in stalls and roller-skating carhops delivering orders to customers.

Sonic is hiring over 100 staff for the new location, including cooks, crew members, shift leads, and carhops. The menu will include Hawaii-only items like the Teriyaki Smasher, alongside the chain’s signature drinks and slushes.

A portion of sales from drinks, slushes, and shakes will support local schools through Sonic’s Limeades for Learning initiative. Takeo Prather, Sonic Hawaii’s head of growth and development, expressed excitement about the opening. This follows the brand’s first Hawaii restaurant, which launched in Kahului, Maui, in 2023. The Kapolei restaurant will mark Sonic’s continued growth in the state. With unique menu offerings and community support programmes, the new location aims to become a local favourite. Hiring is underway, and the drive-in is expected to welcome customers soon.
