Veteran wins grant to launch freight transport business in Yakutia

Andrei Shelkovnikov, a veteran of the special military operation, has won a 100,000-ruble grant for his business plan. His proposal focuses on the freight transport sector. The grant was awarded through the My Own Business educational program in Yakutia. Shelkovnikov served with the 14th Spetsnaz Brigade and took part in combat from the beginning of the campaign. After returning to civilian life, he obtained driver’s licences for categories C, D, and E. He then secured a job in freight transport and decided to start his own business in the field.

The My Own Business program, launched on 10 November 2021, trained 25 participants over five days. It operates under the Efficient and Competitive Economy national initiative. Support comes from Yakutia’s Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Trade, and Tourism, along with United Russia, Opora Rossii, the SME Corporation, and the My Own Business centre.

Shelkovnikov took part in the program at the Yakutia branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland state fund. His business plan earned him the grant to develop his venture. The grant will help Shelkovnikov establish his freight transport business. His participation in the program highlights support for veterans transitioning to entrepreneurship. The initiative continues to assist aspiring business owners in Yakutia.
