BBVA and AWS launch AI platform to slash model development time by 75%
BBVA and Amazon Web Services (AWS) have jointly developed a new MLOps architecture for BBVA’s global cloud-based AI platform, ADA. The collaboration was presented at the AWS Madrid Summit as part of AWS’s report on AI potential in Spain. The system aims to speed up AI development for the bank’s operations. The MLOps architecture uses Amazon SageMaker to build, train, and deploy machine learning models. It automates governance, validation, and traceability, integrating development, testing, and deployment into BBVA’s existing processes. A centralised audit trail ensures compliance with financial sector standards for security and transparency.
With the new system, over 6,500 users, including 1,000 data scientists, can now create and deploy AI solutions more quickly. Development times for AI models have dropped by up to 75% in areas like personalised customer recommendations and financial forecasting. Natalia Sampietro from BBVA’s Data & Analytics Enablement team noted that the architecture accelerates internal transformation while delivering secure AI solutions to customers.
Carlos Alegre Berges from AWS highlighted BBVA’s innovative approach and dedication to scaling AI securely on a global level. The partnership was showcased at the AWS Madrid Summit, where AWS shared its report on unlocking AI’s potential in Spain, featuring the joint project. The new MLOps architecture is now operational within BBVA’s platform. It enables faster AI development and maintains strict compliance with financial regulations. The system supports the bank’s goal of delivering advanced, secure AI solutions to its customers.
