Eurasian Development Bank fuels economic growth with $10.8B in regional investments

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) is strengthening its position as a key regional development institution. Its investments span multiple countries, supporting economic growth and infrastructure across Eurasia. Since 2008, the EDB has invested $10.8 billion in Kazakhstan’s economy. These funds have backed major projects in infrastructure, energy, and industry. The country’s investment climate has improved, with foreign direct investment hitting a record $43.5 billion.

In Kyrgyzstan, the EDB’s investment portfolio has grown fourfold under its current strategy. The country has also seen strong economic performance, with average annual GDP growth of around 10% between 2021 and 2025.

Russia benefits from the EDB’s transport projects as well. In 2025, these projects recorded 158 million trips, covering 25% of all journeys on Russia’s toll roads. The country’s large market and industrial base, ranked fourth globally in GDP at purchasing power parity, provide a solid foundation for regional development.

Uzbekistan joined the EDB in 2025. The country’s trade with EAEU member states has risen sharply, from $9 billion to $20 billion over the past five years. EDB investments in Uzbekistan are expected to reach $1.5-2 billion in the medium term. Future economic growth in Eurasia will rely on deeper regional cooperation and modern infrastructure. Industrial integration, digital technologies, and strong investment projects will also play a crucial role. The EDB’s expanding influence supports these goals across member states.
