Yekaterinburg event bridges SMEs with Russia's corporate procurement giants

A meeting between small and medium-sized enterprises and major national corporations took place at the Domna creative cluster in Yekaterinburg. The event was part of a supplier development programme aimed at fostering partnerships between SMEs and large businesses. The seminar was organised by the Sverdlovsk Regional Entrepreneurship Support Fund and the SME Corporation. Around 70 targeted entrepreneurs from the SME sector attended the event. Procurement managers from major federal corporations, including Rostelecom, VEB.RF, Russian Post, and Russian Railways, were present.

In the first part of the seminar, representatives of large businesses explained how SMEs could participate in their procurement processes. Roman Sadykov, head of procurement analytics and methodology at Rostelecom PJSC, identified several SMEs to invite for future procurement opportunities. Smart Environment LLC, a manufacturer of small architectural forms, saw interest from several large corporations after the event.

Roman Durandin, development director at SPL, held productive discussions with Rosagro and BANES following the meeting. The Sverdlovsk Region currently ranks fifth in Russia for contract volumes between SMEs and the country’s largest buyers. The SOFPP also offers support, including loans of up to 5 million rubles at below-market rates, as well as credit and bank guarantees for eligible entrepreneurs in the region. The event provided a platform for direct engagement between SMEs and major corporations. Several businesses, including Smart Environment LLC and SPL, secured interest from large partners. The initiative highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen procurement ties in the Sverdlovsk Region.
