The research also notes that remittances from the Somali diaspora help families afford cleaner options, lowering their ecological footprint.

Despite progress, barriers remain. High costs and limited availability slow wider adoption. The report calls for stronger policy support, including subsidies, better supply chains, and locally adapted innovations to expand access. Clean cooking energy adoption in Somalia cuts indoor pollution and slows deforestation. It also reduces carbon emissions and eases the burden on women. Policymakers are urged to address affordability and supply issues to sustain these benefits.
