Castore acquires iconic British footwear brand Grenson Shoes

Manchester-based Castore has acquired Grenson Shoes, a premium British footwear brand with deep roots in Northamptonshire. The move follows the company’s recent purchase of heritage fashion house Belstaff. Castore continues to expand its portfolio of high-quality, long-lasting brands. Grenson Shoes was established in 1866 and has built a loyal customer base through its dedication to craftsmanship. Castore, founded in Liverpool in 2016 by brothers Thomas and Philip Beahon, focuses on investing in durable brands with global potential.

The acquisition comes a year after Castore bought Belstaff from INEOS. Thomas Beahon, co-founder of Castore, has stated that heritage brands offer the strongest long-term opportunities. The company’s strategy involves supporting operating functions to ensure sustainable growth.

Castore’s commitment to British brands was recognised at the 2024 Northern Leaders Awards, where it won BusinessCloud’s International Award. The firm plans to hold its investments for over 20 years, reflecting its belief in their enduring value. Grenson Shoes now joins Castore’s growing collection of heritage brands. The acquisition strengthens Castore’s position in the premium footwear market. The company remains focused on nurturing British brands for long-term success on the global stage.
