Xpeng hits one million EVs—now aims for the next million in two years

Chinese electric vehicle maker Xpeng has reached a major milestone by producing its one millionth EV. The achievement comes just 11 years after the company was founded. The landmark vehicle, an X9 people mover, was handed over to a customer by CEO He Xiaopeng and vice chairman Dr Brian Gu. Xpeng’s growth has been rapid. The Mona M03 electric sedan, launched in August 2024, played a key role in hitting the one million target. Over 200,000 Mona vehicles have already been built, accounting for 20% of the company’s total sales.

The G6 electric SUV has also performed well in international markets, including Australia, where Xpeng opened its flagship Sydney Airport store in Mascot in 2023. The brand now aims to accelerate production, targeting the next million EVs in just two years.

Expansion remains a priority. An SUV version of the Mona is set for release in 2025, broadening the company’s range of affordable, tech-focused models. Xpeng also plans to enter dozens of new markets while pushing ahead with autonomous driving technology. Three fully autonomous Level 4 Robotaxi models are scheduled for launch in 2026. The one millionth EV marks a significant moment for Xpeng. The company now looks to speed up production and expand its global presence. Its focus on autonomous technology and new model launches will shape its next phase of growth.
