RMV not raising ticket prices for the New Year

RMV freezes fares in 2025 but plans major pricing overhaul by 2027

The Rhein-Main Transport Association (RMV) has announced no fare increases for January 1. Prices for single and day tickets will stay the same, along with popular options like the Hesse Student Ticket and the RMV KombiTicket. In past years, RMV had raised fares at the start of the year, with the last increase averaging 4.75 percent. This time, however, no changes will apply from January.

The RMV supervisory board has approved a new fare structure set to begin in summer 2027. It will simplify the current system, which has over 100 different ticket types and prices. The number of fare zones and the range of seasonal passes will also be reduced.

Existing benefits will remain. The RMV Savings Pass will still allow discounted purchases across the network. Other well-used tickets, such as the Hesse Senior Ticket, will continue as before. The current pricing remains unchanged for now. The new fare structure will arrive in 2027, bringing a simpler system with fewer zones and ticket types. Passengers will keep access to existing discounts and passes until then.
