Astana's free ESG training for entrepreneurs blends Abai's wisdom with modern business
Astana will host a free educational program for entrepreneurs from 26 to 29 November 2025. The event, titled Teaching Entrepreneurs ESG Principles Through the Lens of Abai’s Philosophy, takes place at Nazarbayev University. It marks the 180th anniversary of the birth of Abai Kunanbayev. The initiative is organised by Nazarbayev University’s Research Center for Entrepreneurship (NURCE) together with the Association of Business Trainers. It targets owners and representatives of micro, small, and medium-sized businesses, including those from vulnerable groups such as people with disabilities.
The program combines modern business techniques with the philosophical ideas of Abai Kunanbayev, particularly his teaching Only a Human. Its goal is to improve managerial skills and encourage participants to reconsider their approach to leadership and the broader impact of business on society.
Earlier versions of the program have already run successfully in Astana, Abai Region, Almaty, and Aktobe Region. Over 100 entrepreneurs have signed up for the upcoming session. The training supports President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s push to revive entrepreneurial spirit and foster a new culture of business innovation. The program is free to attend and aligns with national efforts to strengthen entrepreneurship. It offers participants a chance to develop practical skills while engaging with Abai’s ethical and philosophical legacy. Organisers expect the event to further promote the role of business in driving societal progress.
