Siemens Mobility Expands Braunschweig Rail Hub with Land Swap Deal

Siemens Mobility and the city of Braunschweig have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to expand the company’s rail signalling and automation hub. The agreement includes a land swap to allow Siemens to modernise its site and meet rising global demand for digital rail technology. The planned land exchange benefits both parties. Siemens Mobility gains space for expansion, while the city acquires land for its Bahnstadt district development. A 20,000 m² plot, partly owned by Siemens and the city, will be transferred to enable the project.

The expansion will upgrade production facilities to the latest digital manufacturing standards. It will also increase capacity to support future growth. CEO Marc Ludwig intends to modernise the Braunschweig site to strengthen Siemens’ position in rail infrastructure technology.

A joint working group will finalise the land swap details. Siemens will also take part in future urban planning competitions for the area. Additional plots may be acquired for projects such as a new production hall. The city of Braunschweig sees the expansion as a strong endorsement of its business potential. The investment is expected to secure jobs and boost local economic growth. Siemens Mobility aims to reinforce its leadership in rail infrastructure technology through these developments.
