Origis Energy lands $900M to accelerate solar and storage expansion
Origis Energy has secured $900 million in new financing to speed up its solar and storage projects. The company has rapidly expanded its operations, despite shifts in federal energy policy. Its pipeline now includes over 20 gigawatts of projects, with 5 gigawatts set for near-term development. The latest funding comprises $650 million in credit facilities and a $250 million Letter of Credit. This follows a March financing round of $545 million for a 700-megawatt solar pipeline in Texas.
Texas has become a key player in solar manufacturing and installed capacity. The state exports solar equipment nationwide and now generates more utility-scale solar electricity than coal on a monthly basis. This growth continues even as political resistance to renewables persists.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump has offered payments to wind industry stakeholders to abandon their federal offshore leases. Yet, solar power keeps expanding across the US grid, adding clean energy despite these challenges. Origis Energy has quadrupled its operations in two years. Its latest financing will further boost solar and storage development. The company’s growth reflects the broader rise of renewable energy in the US, particularly in Texas.
