The cost of a classic Fourth of July cookout for 10 people has risen to $73.82 in 2026. This marks a 4% increase from the previous year, adding $2.90 to the total bill. The rise reflects broader trends in food prices across the United States. Several staple items have seen significant price jumps. Pork and beans now cost $3.06 for 32 ounces, up 13.8% from last year. Two pints of strawberries have climbed 12.4% to $5.27.

Other barbecue essentials have also become pricier. A half-gallon of ice cream is 5.3% more expensive at $5.99. Lemonade costs 3.9% more, with 2.5 quarts now priced at $4.54.

Meat prices have risen as well. Three pounds of pork chops cost $14.79, a 4.7% increase. Two pounds of chicken breasts are up 3.5% to $8.06. Ground beef has reached its highest recorded price in the survey, with two pounds now at $14.06, a 5.5% rise. Even chocolate chip cookies have gone up 6.3% to $4.25 per pack.

Overall, the cookout basket’s cost rose about 4%, slightly below the national inflation rate of 4.2% over the past 12 months. The total cost for a traditional cookout now stands at $73.82. Price increases span a range of items, from fresh produce to meats and treats. This reflects a steady climb in food costs across the country.
