Ethereum's stablecoin dominance hits $156.55B as DeFi thrives

Ethereum’s dollar-denominated activity has reached new heights. As of 17 June 2026, the total supply of USD-pegged stablecoins on the network stands at $156.55 billion. These tokens play a central role in both passive holdings and active protocol usage across the platform. Tether’s USDT dominates the stablecoin landscape on Ethereum. It accounts for $80.31 billion of the total, representing 43.05% of all USDT in global circulation. Over the past 30 days, its supply on Ethereum has slightly decreased by 3.14%, falling from $82.96 billion to $80.35 billion.

Stablecoins now make up roughly 74% of ETH’s market capitalisation, which currently sits at $211.95 billion. The price of ETH is $1,751.49, reinforcing its position as a major digital asset.

Separate from stablecoin figures, Ethereum’s DeFi sector holds $39.61 billion in total value locked. This sum equals about 18.7% of ETH’s market cap, meaning nearly 19 cents of every dollar in ETH’s market value is actively deployed in DeFi protocols. The data highlights Ethereum’s dual role as a hub for stablecoin activity and DeFi engagement. With $156.55 billion in stablecoins and $39.61 billion locked in DeFi, the network continues to support significant financial activity. These figures remain distinct but collectively underscore its economic scale.
