How PerfectTed's Founders Turned a Kitchen Idea Into a Global Matcha Empire
The founders of PerfectTed, a viral matcha drink, have built a rapidly expanding business in just a few years. Their product is now available in over 50 countries, achieving a three-year growth rate of 431%. The company’s success has earned it recognition as the fastest-growing founder-led business in the UK for 2025. Marisa Poster, Teddie Levenfiche, and Levi Levenfiche started PerfectTed in 2021 from a kitchen table. They pitched their idea on Dragons’ Den and received five offers from the investors. Peter Jones and Deborah Meaden both backed the business, with Meaden initially investing £50,000 for a 10% stake. She later increased her support with a £1 million investment through her Flight Fund VC firm.
Peter Jones eventually stepped back, as his expertise in retail distribution was not required. Deborah Meaden, however, remained a strong supporter, calling the founders an ‘iconic team’. Their achievements continued to grow, with PerfectTed being named regional finalists in the 2026 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards. PerfectTed’s rapid expansion has seen its matcha drink reach global markets. The company’s growth and recognition highlight its strong position in the industry. The founders’ journey from a small start to major success has drawn admiration from investors and awards alike.
