Mexico City eases rules for World Cup 2026 public screenings in retail spaces
Retail establishments in Mexico City will be allowed to broadcast digital content during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The permission covers a specific period and includes strict rules on equipment and installations. Broadcasting will be permitted from June 11 to July 19, 2026. Businesses with pergola-style structures or terraces can install approved digital broadcasting devices under certain conditions.
A maximum of two devices, such as televisions, projectors, or LED screens, may be installed per authorised pergola. All equipment must not exceed 55 inches in diagonal screen size. It must also be supported by independent, self-supporting structures designed for this purpose.
Business owners must ensure all broadcasting equipment is endorsed by a registered installation co-responsible party. They are required to present a co-responsibility letter and a copy of the co-responsible party’s valid registration for verification. The regulations allow businesses to use televisions, digital projectors, or similar technology for broadcasting. Compliance with the rules ensures legal and safe installations during the tournament period.
