Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor advances with higher farmer compensation

The Indore-Pithampur Economic Corridor project has moved forward after the government raised land compensation for farmers. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav increased the share of developed land returned to landowners from 50% to 60%, encouraging voluntary participation. The initiative aims to boost investment and create long-term economic opportunities for the region. The project spans over 1,300 hectares along a 20-kilometre road, stretching 75 metres wide with a 300-metre development zone on either side. Its total cost is estimated at Rs 2,360 crore. The government’s decision to raise compensation has helped secure farmer cooperation, ensuring smoother land acquisition.

The corridor is designed to attract investment and improve connectivity, fostering economic growth. By providing modern infrastructure, it will generate employment, particularly for local youth. The focus remains on delivering direct benefits to farmers who contribute their land.

The first phase, costing Rs 326.51 crore, will be launched by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on May 3 at 12 pm. This marks the beginning of a larger effort to transform the region’s economic landscape. With higher compensation and a clear development plan, the project seeks to balance growth with fair returns for landowners. The improved infrastructure is expected to draw businesses and create jobs, supporting long-term regional progress. The inauguration of the first phase signals the start of a major economic push for Indore and Pithampur.
