Jersey's New House of Champions Hub Fuels Freelance and Startup Growth

A new entrepreneurial hub called House of Champions has opened in St Helier, Jersey. Designed for 40 members, the space aims to support freelancers, startups, and small teams with flexible working options. The launch comes as self-employment in Jersey continues to grow, particularly among skilled professionals.

The hub blends Jersey's traditional architecture with modern interiors. Exposed wooden beams, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and curated artwork create a distinctive workspace. Facilities include hot desks, dedicated workstations, meeting rooms, and a podcast studio, with membership packages tailored to different needs.

Over the past five years, Jersey has seen a 15–20% rise in self-employed freelancers, growing from around 2,500 to over 3,000. This increase reflects post-pandemic trends, including digital nomadism, growth in finance and tech, and Jersey's low-tax status. Government initiatives and remote work flexibility have also played a role.

House of Champions is led by Fiona Wylie, chief executive of Brand Champions. The project highlights confidence in Jersey's entrepreneurial scene. At launch, the hub will host workshops, networking events, and community programmes to encourage collaboration and wellbeing.

The opening reinforces Jersey's shift beyond its finance reputation. More professionals, especially highly skilled women, are now choosing freelance and creative careers on the island.

House of Champions provides a dedicated space for Jersey's growing freelance and startup community. Its mix of traditional design and modern amenities reflects the island's evolving workforce. The hub's launch aligns with broader trends in self-employment and remote work flexibility.
