Platinum nears critical resistance as summer rally accelerates to $1,660
Platinum prices have surged over the summer, climbing well above earlier highs. The metal now trades near 1,655.71 USD per ounce, approaching a key resistance level. Analysts are watching closely as the rally tests critical price points in the coming weeks.
By late June, platinum had already broken past its yearly peak of 1,338 USD. The upward trend continued strongly, pushing the price toward the next major target of 1,660 USD. If the metal holds above this level, further gains to 1,750 USD and even 1,792 USD could follow.
A pullback remains possible if platinum forms a top between 1,660 USD and 1,675 USD. Should the price then drop below 1,610 USD, a brief correction to 1,575 USD might occur. Stronger support levels lie at 1,517 USD and 1,479 USD, with the summer rally only considered over if prices fall below 1,438 USD.
The current price of 1,655.71 USD places platinum just below the 1,660 USD resistance mark. A break above 1,675 USD would signal potential for further advances. Traders are now monitoring these thresholds for signs of the next move.
