Brazil's Tocantinzinho Gold Mine Wins Decade-Long Tax Break to Boost Profits
G Mining Ventures Corp. has secured a major tax incentive for its Tocantinzinho Gold Mine (TZ) in Brazil. The approval comes from SUDAM, a federal agency promoting economic growth in the Amazon region. This move is set to boost the mine's financial performance over the next decade.
The incentive program will cut TZ's corporate income tax rate from 34% to around 15.25% for ten years, beginning in 2025. Analysts expect this reduction to significantly increase after-tax earnings and free cash flow for the project. The incentive is also renewable after the initial term.
G Mining Ventures Corp. specialises in acquiring, exploring, and developing precious metal projects. Alongside TZ, the company's portfolio includes the Gurupi Project in Brazil and the Oko West Project in Guyana. Its long-term goal is to become a mid-tier precious metals producer.
SUDAM's role is to encourage sustainable investment, job creation, and development in the Amazon. By including TZ in its tax incentive scheme, the agency aims to support regional growth while aligning with environmental and economic objectives.
Louis-Pierre Gignac, the company's President and CEO, welcomed the decision. He noted that the approval strengthens TZ's financial outlook and reinforces the value of their investment in the Amazon region.
The tax incentive will take effect in 2025 and last for a decade, with potential for renewal. It is expected to improve TZ's profitability and cash flow, benefiting both the company and the local economy. The decision also highlights SUDAM's ongoing efforts to attract responsible investment to the Amazon.
