Head of Yakutia Highly Praises Active Longevity Project in Aldan District

Yakutia's bold plan to extend life expectancy and empower seniors by 2030

Aldan District in Yakutia has launched a new programme to boost the health and skills of older residents. The initiative, called Active Longevity in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) for 2025–2030, also supports troops by providing essential gear. Local authorities have already invested funds and renovated a building to kickstart the project. The programme was officially approved by a Yakutia cabinet decree. It ties into Russia’s federal Active Longevity scheme under the Family national project. Goals include raising life expectancy to 78 years by 2030 and 81 years by 2036.

In 2024, Aldan District received a 937,000-ruble ($10,500) grant for the initiative. An additional 3 million rubles ($33,500) went into renovating a facility on Sportivnaya Street. The updated space now hosts activities like health clubs, digital literacy courses, and art workshops. Seniors involved in the project are also sewing military uniforms for soldiers. Governor Aisen Nikolayev highlighted the district’s efforts during a recent visit, praising its focus on both community welfare and troop support.

The project combines health improvements, skill development, and practical contributions to the military. With renovated facilities and dedicated funding, Aldan District aims to expand services for older residents over the next six years. The initiative reflects broader regional and national goals for longevity and social engagement.
