Vladivostok Hosts Landmark Forum on Russia's Far East Future

An international forum on Russia’s Far East will open in Vladivostok on June 9. Titled Russia’s Far East in the 21st Century: New Development Priorities, the event brings together scholars, diplomats, officials and business leaders. Organisers aim to shape the region’s future over the next decade through discussions and policy proposals. The forum is jointly hosted by Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) and the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic. Sessions will focus on a draft socioeconomic strategy for the region, covering goals up to 2036. Alexander Latkin and Alexey Dunaev will moderate the discussions.

Attendees include leading academics, foreign diplomats, government representatives and business figures. By the end of the event, participants plan to adopt a resolution. This document will outline the Far East’s main priorities and the tools needed to achieve them over the coming years.

The forum’s outcomes will set a framework for the Far East’s growth until 2036. The adopted resolution will guide policy, investment and development efforts in the region. Organisers expect the strategy to attract broader attention from both domestic and international stakeholders.
