Vkusno i Tochka Outperforms McDonald's Legacy in Russia
The Russian fast-food chain Vkusno i Tochka has outperformed McDonald's former operations in the country, according to its owner. Alexander Govor, who took over the business after McDonald's exit, now doubts the American company will return to the market anytime soon.
Vkusno i Tochka, which replaced McDonald's in Russia, reported stronger results in 2024. The chain's revenue and order volumes beat those of its two closest competitors combined. Govor also claimed the company surpassed McDonald's previous performance in Russia by several percentage points.
The brand currently operates around 900 locations across the country. Govor sees significant growth potential ahead, suggesting the business is far from reaching its peak.
McDonald's sold its Russian operations in 2022 but retained a buyback option. Govor, however, believes exercising this option would not make financial sense for the company. He added that McDonald's has shown no signs of planning a return to the Russian market.
Vkusno i Tochka continues to expand without McDonald's involvement. The chain's strong financial results and broad presence suggest it has firmly established itself in the market. For now, a return of McDonald's to Russia appears unlikely.
