Vĩnh Long's local producers secure supermarket deals at trade event

A trade promotion event in Vĩnh Long has brought together local producers and a major retailer to boost sales of regional goods. Organised by the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and Central Retail Việt Nam, the programme aimed to connect farmers and cooperatives with supermarket shelves. Over 30 businesses showcased their products, from certified agricultural items to local specialties.

The event featured around 70 products from more than 30 enterprises and cooperatives in Vĩnh Long. These included high-quality items like king oranges, macapuno candies, sweet potato crackers, and ST25 fragrant rice. Many of the goods held four-star and five-star OCOP certifications or met VietGAP standards.

Representatives from Central Retail met directly with 25 local suppliers to discuss distribution opportunities. The retailer's GO! supermarket chain already stocks over 90 per cent Vietnamese-made products, according to Paul Le, a company spokesperson. He emphasised the group's ongoing support for domestic producers. Among the participants were well-known local names such as Cầu Kè Macapuno Processing Co., Ltd., Nhật Ngọc Cake Co., Ltd., and Nắng Xanh Safe Vegetable Cooperative. The programme also highlighted Thắm Tài King Orange Cooperative's citrus fruits and other regional specialties. At the close of the event, the Department of Industry and Trade and Central Retail signed a memorandum of understanding. The agreement focuses on expanding trade promotion and strengthening ties between production and distribution networks.

Following the programme, several Vĩnh Long products are set to enter Central Retail's supply chain. Items like honey, coconut-based goods, cantaloupes, and fragrant rice varieties will soon appear in GO! supermarkets. The initiative aims to increase sales for local producers while offering consumers more regional specialties.
