Vietnam and India have deepened their cooperation across technology, trade, and sustainability in recent years. Bilateral trade has grown steadily, reaching nearly USD 16.5 billion in 2025. Both nations are now exploring new opportunities in digital innovation, green energy, and supply chain diversification. The two countries have moved beyond simple exchanges to more concrete collaboration. Key areas now include information technology, biotechnology, clean energy, and digital transformation. Projects like the Satellite Data Receiving Station, the Satellite Image Processing Center, and the Vietnam-India Nuclear Science Center have boosted Vietnam’s technological capabilities.
India’s ITEC program has also played a role by providing Vietnamese officials and experts with access to modern management knowledge. Additionally, Vietnam’s involvement in India’s Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) has opened doors for stronger cooperation in sustainable infrastructure and climate adaptation. Trade ties have expanded, with Vietnam exporting electronics, machinery, and processed agricultural goods to India. In return, India supplies steel, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and textiles. Both nations are now diversifying supply chains, creating links in manufacturing, logistics, and high-tech agriculture. Emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence, semiconductors, cybersecurity, fintech, and biotechnology present further opportunities. Environmental cooperation remains a priority, focusing on renewable energy, water management, the circular economy, and disaster-resilient infrastructure.
The outlook for Vietnam-India cooperation remains strong, with growth expected in the digital economy, green sectors, and innovation. Bilateral trade has risen from over USD 14 billion in 2023 to nearly USD 16.5 billion in 2025. Both countries continue to explore new ways to strengthen economic and technological partnerships.
