Tokenization Is the Real Story. And You're Probably Missing It.

Tokenized assets hit $29B as Wall Street embraces blockchain revolution

The market for tokenized real-world assets has surged in recent years. By April 2026, its total value reached $29.27 billion—up from just $1.5 billion in early 2023. This rapid growth reflects increasing adoption by major financial players and regulators alike. Tokenized commodities, led by gold, now account for $7.3 billion of the market. Yield-bearing on-chain dollar instruments add another $8 billion, while tokenized equities have climbed to $960 million. The most dramatic rise came from tokenized US Treasuries, which jumped from $380 million in early 2023 to $13.4 billion by April 2026. These digital assets offer new flexibility, allowing peer-to-peer transfers and use as collateral in on-chain lending.

Regulatory progress has also played a key role. In January 2026, the SEC issued its first formal statement on tokenized securities. The following month, it approved WisdomTree’s tokenized money market fund for intraday trading. Meanwhile, over forty major financial institutions—including BlackRock—now issue tokenized products on public blockchains. BlackRock’s BUIDL fund, running on Ethereum and other chains, expanded its reach in early 2026 by integrating with Uniswap. Industry analysts now project the entire tokenized asset market could hit $100 billion by the end of the year.

The expansion of tokenized assets is reshaping traditional finance. With growing institutional involvement and clearer regulations, these digital products are becoming a standard part of global markets. Their ability to streamline transactions and unlock new liquidity options continues to drive adoption.
