Tandem Diabetes soars after record sales and a bold new payment model

Tandem Diabetes has announced robust financial results alongside a shift to a pay-as-you-go pharmacy model. The company's latest earnings report shows rising profits, improved margins, and record sales. Share prices surged by over 32% following the news.

The company's fourth-quarter sales reached $290 million, a 3% increase from the same period last year. Worldwide shipments of its insulin pumps hit 38,000, with 27,000 delivered in the U.S. alone. For the full year, Tandem surpassed $1 billion in global sales and set new gross margin records.

Gross margins climbed to 58%, up from 56% in the previous year. Operating income also turned positive, reaching $8.3 million compared to a $0.6 million loss in the prior-year quarter. The company now projects full-year sales of $1.065 billion to $1.085 billion for 2026, with gross margins expected to stay between 56% and 57%.

Tandem is also transforming how customers pay for its products. The new pay-as-you-go pharmacy model aims to reduce upfront costs for users while creating a steadier revenue stream. Management believes this approach will make insulin pumps more accessible and enhance long-term profitability.

The shift to a pay-as-you-go system comes as Tandem reports its strongest financial performance yet. With sales exceeding $1 billion and margins expanding, the company anticipates continued growth in 2026. The stock rally reflects investor confidence in its strategy and market position.
