Sverdlovsk's top farm managers shine in national agro-industrial leadership contest

Seven managers from the Sverdlovsk Region have reached the final stage of a major national competition. The 'Leaders of the Agro-Industrial Complex' contest highlights innovative and responsible leadership in farming and food production. Their success comes as rural areas in the region face ongoing challenges in keeping skilled professionals.

The competition began with over 7,500 participants from across Russia and 11 other countries. It forms part of the national project Technological Support for Food Security, which seeks to strengthen the sector through better management. Organisers aimed to identify leaders who could drive progress in agriculture.

The final stage took place on 13 February at the Senezh Management Workshop. Instead of theoretical tests, candidates tackled real-world management tasks during an assessment conference. Among the Sverdlovsk finalists were Lyubov Vyatkina, Natalia Merzlyakova, Richard Mukhamedyev and Sergei Negodin.

Retaining skilled managers remains a pressing issue for the Sverdlovsk Region. Many rural areas struggle to hold on to talent, which can slow down development in agriculture. This competition offers a way to recognise and support those who stay and contribute to the sector.

The seven finalists from Sverdlovsk will now compete for top honours in the contest. Their participation puts a spotlight on the region's potential in agro-industrial leadership. The results may also help address broader challenges in keeping experienced professionals in rural communities.
