Stroom secures ₹1 crore deal on Shark Tank India with a twist
Stroom, a nutrition-focused snack brand, recently appeared on Shark Tank India seeking investment. The founders pitched their protein bars and wafers, which combine milk and soy protein for better taste and texture. They aimed to raise Rs 1 crore for a 2% stake, valuing the company at Rs 50 crore.
Darshan Gattani, Shiven Chaturvedi, and Rohan Shah launched Stroom in May 2022 after leaving stable careers and overseas opportunities. Their products, designed as familiar snacks with added protein, have gained traction on quick-commerce platforms. In FY24-25, the brand reported net sales of Rs 2.42 crore.
During the pitch, investor Viraj Bahl questioned the honesty of Stroom's packaging and labeling. The founders admitted the need for improvements in this area. After negotiations, Vineeta Singh and Kunal Bahl agreed to invest Rs 1 crore. The deal included 2.5% equity and 2% advisory equity, lowering the company's valuation to Rs 40 crore.
The final agreement marked a shift from the original ask. Instead of 2% equity for Rs 1 crore, the investors secured a larger stake and advisory rights. The founders accepted the revised terms, securing funding to scale their business.
Stroom now plans to refine its product labeling and expand its presence in the nutrition market. The investment from Shark Tank will support growth, particularly in quick-commerce channels. The brand's focus remains on offering protein-rich snacks in convenient formats.
