SoFi's 2025 revenue soars 40% as fintech giant hits $21B valuation
SoFi Technologies has reported strong financial growth in late 2025, with revenue and earnings climbing sharply. The San Francisco-based fintech company, known for its student and personal loans, saw a 40% yearly revenue increase in Q4 2025. This performance has pushed its market value above $21 billion, far outpacing competitors like LendingClub and LendingTree. In the final quarter of 2025, SoFi's revenue reached $1.02 billion, up 40% from the same period in 2024. Adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) also surged by 60% to $317.6 million. Earnings per share (EPS) rose even more dramatically, jumping 160% year-over-year.
The company's success has boosted its market capitalisation to around $21.78 billion as of March 2026. This places SoFi among the largest fintech firms, with a forward price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 28.3. CEO Anthony Noto, whose net worth is estimated at over $261 million, recently reinforced his confidence in the business by purchasing 28,900 additional shares. Despite the strong results, concerns have been raised. Short-selling firm Muddy Waters claims SoFi's accounting may understate chargeoff rates, potentially misleading investors. The company also faces risks tied to its heavy reliance on student loans, which could be vulnerable to defaults. Muddy Waters further suggests that AI-driven job losses among knowledge workers might reduce borrowers' ability to repay loans, affecting up to 15% of SoFi's customer base.
SoFi's latest financial figures highlight its rapid expansion in the fintech sector. With a market value now exceeding $21 billion, the company has distanced itself from smaller rivals. However, questions about loan defaults and accounting transparency remain key challenges for its future stability.
