SME Bank empowers 14,500 Malaysian businesses with RM4.3B in 2025 funding

SME Bank has expanded its support for Malaysian small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in 2025, helping over 14,500 businesses through financing, training, and global networking. The bank's approved funding rose by 19% to RM4.3 billion, with a strong focus on inclusive growth and key sectors like halal, technology, and tourism. In 2025, SME Bank provided financing, advisory services, and international business programmes to more than 14,500 entrepreneurs. Over 60% of its customers received loans of RM1 million or less, ensuring support for smaller enterprises. The bank also channeled RM3.8 billion specifically to MSMEs, marking a 20% increase from the previous year.

The bank's efforts aligned with national priorities, including the halal economy, digital adoption, and climate-resilient projects. It helped businesses gain halal certification, enter global value chains, and access new markets. Other initiatives included capacity-building workshops, social finance solutions, and export acceleration programmes. These moves were part of a broader strategy under the National Budget 2026, which allocated nearly RM2 billion for SME Bank to drive inclusive growth. The bank's performance also met targets set by Bank Negara Malaysia's framework and the MADANI Economic Framework, focusing on resilience, productivity, and job creation.

The bank's initiatives strengthened MSMEs across multiple sectors while boosting market access and value creation. With increased financing and targeted support, SME Bank's work in 2025 reinforced its role in Malaysia's economic development and inclusive growth.
