Shift4 and Lydian team up to expand Pay with Crypto for merchants globally
Shift4 has partnered with Lydian to expand its Pay with Crypto solution. The move allows merchants to accept a wider range of digital assets, including Tether (USDT), while receiving settlements in local currency. Both companies aim to simplify crypto payments for businesses and customers alike. The collaboration builds on Shift4’s existing Pay with Crypto programme, which already lets customers pay with major wallets. Now, with Lydian’s technology, merchants can process transactions faster, cut costs, and settle funds almost instantly in fiat. This removes exposure to price swings and lowers the risk of chargebacks.
Shift4’s CEO, Taylor Lauber, highlighted that the partnership enhances their crypto payment offering without adding complexity or risk. The deal also brings Tether—the world’s largest stablecoin—into Shift4’s supported payment methods. Regulatory clarity from laws like the GENIUS Act and MiCA has further smoothed the way for stablecoin adoption in payments.
Last year, stablecoin transaction volumes overtook Visa’s settlement figures, showing their rising use. With over 600 million crypto users globally, the demand for digital payment options continues to grow. The partnership places Shift4 among the leaders in alternative payment solutions. Merchants using its platform can now accept a broader set of digital assets while receiving funds in their local currency. The move aligns with the increasing shift toward stablecoin-based transactions in everyday commerce.
