Schomacker upgrades yacht insurance with broader coverage and lower deductibles
Hamburg-based yacht insurer Schomacker has rolled out new upgrades for the boating season. The company has expanded its skipper liability and trip cancellation policies without raising premiums. Changes include broader coverage and lower deductibles for customers. The trip cancellation insurance now covers pets like dogs and horses for an extra fee. Policyholders will pay one percent of the insured loss amount to add this protection. Another update allows customers to include a partner or another key person as a valid reason for cancellation.
The skipper liability policy has seen several improvements. The €150 deductible for property damage claims has been removed entirely. Charter-related damages that leave a boat unusable for future renters no longer carry a deductible either. Additionally, the insurer now recognises the loosening or failure of prosthetics or implants as a valid cancellation reason. Towing assistance has also become more affordable. The deductible for this service dropped from €2,500 to €1,300, reducing out-of-pocket costs for boat owners.
Schomacker's updates provide wider protection for boaters at no extra charge. The changes take effect immediately for new and existing policies. Customers can now claim cancellations for more reasons while facing lower deductibles in key areas.
