Russia's Far East fishing jobs now pay up to 500,000 rubles monthly

Job opportunities in Russia’s Far East fishing and maritime sectors are offering some of the highest wages in the region. Over 700 vacancies were advertised in the first five months of 2026 alone. Many roles now come with salaries far above the local average. The average monthly salary for fishermen in the Far East has climbed to 130,000 rubles. Yet some positions pay significantly more. In Khabarovsk Krai, one listing for a fisherman offers up to 500,000 rubles under specific conditions.

Watchkeeping Able Seaman roles in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk start at 220,000 rubles per month. Standard Able Seaman positions also provide competitive pay, beginning at 170,000 rubles. Chief Officers, meanwhile, can earn between 140,000 and 142,000 rubles monthly. Captain-Mechanic roles vary by location. In Yakutia, these positions pay between 294,279 and 302,059 rubles. Elsewhere, such as in other Far Eastern regions, the same role offers 180,000 to 220,000 rubles.

The surge in high-paying maritime jobs reflects growing demand in the sector. With over 700 vacancies posted in early 2026, opportunities remain plentiful. Many roles now exceed regional wage averages by a wide margin.
