Russia allocates 2.4 billion rubles to boost education in four regions

Four more Russian regions have secured extra funding for education after signing new financial agreements. The deals, part of a wider push to boost school resources, will channel nearly 2.4 billion rubles into teachers’ pay, training, and infrastructure upgrades.

Deputy Education Minister Irina Shvartsman called the reallocation a major step for improving the sector’s quality and efficiency. The latest agreements were finalised on June 5, involving officials from Sverdlovsk Oblast, Arkhangelsk Oblast, Voronezh Oblast, and Khabarovsk Krai. Each region committed to using the funds for priority tasks, including salary increases, professional development, and school repairs.

Sverdlovsk Oblast will receive 797.97 million rubles, while Arkhangelsk Oblast gets 479.4 million rubles. Voronezh Oblast’s share stands at 624.7 million rubles, and Khabarovsk Krai is allocated 494 million rubles. These figures follow earlier deals in April 2026, when North Ossetia–Alania and Sakha (Yakutia) secured a combined 1.90169 billion rubles.

The signatories included Dmitry Ionin of Sverdlovsk Oblast, Alexey Alsufyev of Arkhangelsk Oblast, Danil Kustov of Voronezh Oblast, and Dmitry Demeshin of Khabarovsk Krai. Deputy Minister of Education Irina Shvartsman and Deputy Economic Development Minister Denis Tyupshev also signed on behalf of the federal government.

So far, 42 regions across Russia have joined the initiative. The funds, originally earmarked for broader budgets, will now stay within education through labour productivity programmes. The reallocated money will directly support schools in the four regions. Teachers’ wages, training schemes, and building upgrades are set to benefit from the extra investment. With 42 regions now participating, the programme continues to expand across the country.
