Provident Financial Services smashes records with soaring revenue and loan growth
Provident Financial Services (PFS) has announced another quarter of record-breaking results. The company reported its highest-ever revenue and net interest income for the second time in a row. Strong loan growth and rising deposits helped drive the impressive figures.
PFS saw pretax pre-provision earnings climb by 9% from the previous quarter, reaching $109 million. Net income came in at $72 million, or $0.55 per share. The bank's return on average assets stood at 1.16%, while its adjusted return on average tangible equity hit 16.01%.
Commercial loan production remained robust, with $742 million issued in the quarter and $2.1 billion year-to-date. The loan pipeline also expanded to nearly $2.9 billion, carrying an average rate of around 6.15%. Meanwhile, deposits grew by $388 million, an 8% annualised increase, with core deposits up by $291 million, or 7.5% annualised.
Efficiency improved as well, with the ratio dropping to 51%—or 46.72% when excluding intangibles. The net interest margin held steady at 3.43%, and management expects a slight rise of 3-5 basis points in the coming quarters.
The latest results mark PFS's second consecutive quarter of record performance. With loan demand strong and deposits rising, the company's financial position appears solid. Leadership, including President and CEO Anthony Labozzetta, will likely focus on maintaining this momentum in the months ahead.
