Põltsamaa factory and brand identity sold to Svensky Kaubanduse AS
Orkla Eesti has sold the Põltsamaa factory and brand identity to Svensky Kaubanduse AS. The deal includes the production site, all products, and employee contracts. Both companies have confirmed that production will continue without interruption at the Põltsamaa location.
Over the past five years, Põltsamaa Vinodaja expanded steadily under Orkla's ownership. By 2022, annual production reached around 10 million litres, with growth in fruit wines, juices, and organic product lines. The brand identity also increased its market share in Estonia's non-alcoholic drinks sector to between 15% and 20%, supported by local sourcing and exports to the Baltics and Scandinavia.
Orkla Eesti decided to sell the business to focus on its core product groups. Kaido Kaare, head of Orkla Eesti, stressed that finding a buyer committed to maintaining production and valuing the Põltsamaa brand identity was the top priority. Svensky Kaubanduse AS, an Estonian company with over 30 years in wholesale, production, and logistics, will now take over operations.
Sven Voites, head of Svensky, stated plans to develop both the production site and the brand identity long-term. The transaction, advised by PwC Tallinn, Ellex Legal, Redgate Capital, Tark Legal, and BDO Estonia, still requires approval from the Estonian Competition Authority. Orkla will continue sourcing products from Põltsamaa under a new partnership agreement.
The sale ensures that all current employment contracts will transfer to Svensky. Production at Põltsamaa will carry on as usual, with no immediate changes expected. Svensky views the acquisition as a key part of its future growth strategy in the Estonian market.
