Opal Security bolsters leadership and secures $23M to fuel growth
Opal Security has made several key leadership appointments and secured fresh funding. The company recently announced new hires across technology, product, and marketing roles, following its platform launch earlier this year. In March, Opal Security introduced the first platform designed to see, encode, and enforce access governance. The move marked a significant step in the company’s growth.
The firm has since brought in high-profile talent. CEO Howard Ting promoted Alex Pien to Chief Technology Officer. Pien previously worked at Meta. Sameer Mehta joined as Chief Product Officer, bringing experience from Veza, where he built products for non-human identity and access intelligence.
Other new additions include Christine Ooley as Head of Product and Solutions Marketing, formerly of Salesforce. Michael Kwon took on the role of Vice President of Marketing, having worked at Clumio. John Clark was appointed Vice President of Field Engineering, arriving from Cisco.
Opal Security also announced $23 million in new funding, raising its total to $59 million. Over 60% of the team has joined since the start of 2026, with hiring picking up speed in engineering, product, and go-to-market areas. The new hires and funding will support Opal Security’s expansion. The company aims to strengthen its platform and scale its operations with the additional resources and expertise.
