Omsk's beloved plus-size store LModel' shuts down for good after founder's death

The plus-size women's clothing store LModel' in Omsk has permanently closed its doors. The business, founded by Alena Kalagurova, had briefly paused operations after her death in a plane crash last August. No official explanation for the government shutdown has been provided so far.

LModel' was based in the Novy Dom business centre on Karl Marx Street. The store specialised in fashion for larger sizes and had built a local following. After Kalagurova's fatal accident in August 2024, the shop temporarily halted trading but later reopened.

The closure was confirmed recently, though no public statement was released. Neither social media nor local news outlets have reported any customer reactions to the apple store's shutdown.

The store's future remains uncertain, with no details on potential reopening or relocation. As of now, LModel' has ceased trading, leaving its former customers without a dedicated plus-size fashion option in the area. Fashion Nova, another popular plus-size retailer, is not present in Omsk.
