NRW Startup Wins Top Award for Eco-Friendly Building Innovations

A sustainable construction company from North Rhine-Westphalia has won a major state award. Schreinerwehr GmbH, founded in 2021, was named one of three winners of the MUT – THE NRW FOUNDERS’ AWARD 2025. The firm specialises in eco-friendly façades and insulation made from renewable, recyclable, and compostable materials. Felix Possel and Georg Willig launched Schreinerwehr GmbH in January 2021. Their focus on sustainable building solutions quickly gained attention. In 2024, the company received the Rhein-Erft District’s Startup Award, recognising its innovative approach.

The **MUT – THE NRW FOUNDERS’ AWARD** celebrates forward-thinking startups across the region. A jury of experts—including members from the Ministry of Economic Affairs, NRW.BANK, and local business leaders—selected Schreinerwehr as a standout winner. Each of the three winners receives **€20,000**, drawn from a total prize fund of **€60,000**. Dirk Breuer, mayor of the company’s home district, congratulated the founders on their achievement. The award highlights Schreinerwehr’s commitment to sustainability and its growing impact in the construction sector.

The prize money will support Schreinerwehr GmbH as it continues developing eco-friendly building materials. The company’s success reflects broader demand for sustainable construction in North Rhine-Westphalia. With state-level recognition, its solutions may soon reach a wider market.
