North Clearwater's New Business Incubator Aims to Revitalize Local Economy

A new business incubator is set to open in North Clearwater, offering support to local entrepreneurs. The project, led by the Clearwater Urban Leadership Coalition, aims to boost economic growth in the area. An information session for aspiring business owners will take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Pinellas County African American Museum.

The first major step in the initiative is The Grove @ 1105, a repurposed storage container village located off North Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. The site will provide affordable rent and guidance on financing, marketing, staffing, and employment for small businesses.

The Clearwater Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has contributed $500,000 to fund the project. Gloria Campbell, executive director of the coalition, highlighted the neighbourhood's historical role as the economic heart of the African American community.

Among the first tenants, Kimberly Brown and her business partner plan to launch The Wine Down Blue, a venue paying tribute to the former Blue Chip club. While the incubator is now taking shape, no official figures have been released on how many other businesses have signed up or expressed interest in renting space.

The project marks a key effort to revive economic activity in North Clearwater. With funding secured and the first businesses preparing to move in, the coalition is encouraging local entrepreneurs to attend Monday's meeting. The incubator's success could bring new opportunities to the area in the coming months.
