Nizhny Tagil Names Its Best Cafés in Landmark Coffee Contest
Nizhny Tagil has crowned its top coffee spots in a first-of-its-kind citywide contest. Nine local cafés competed in the Favorite Coffee Always Nearby competition, aiming to raise service standards and support small businesses. The event highlighted both creativity and quality in the city’s growing café scene. The competition split entries into two categories: Best Café and Best Coffee Menu. Judges assessed each venue on a range of criteria, from menu variety and customer feedback to interior design and accessibility. Even the surrounding public spaces and branding played a role in the final scores.
Café owners also met with representatives from Rospotrebnadzor during the event. These discussions provided practical advice on compliance and day-to-day operations, giving participants a chance to refine their businesses further.
In the end, Coffee Like took home the Best Café title, while Kukushka won for Best Coffee Menu. Organisers noted that the contest not only recognised excellence but also encouraged cafés to innovate. Many participants described the experience as a motivating push to improve their offerings.
This initiative follows Nizhny Tagil’s tradition of supporting local entrepreneurs. The city already runs an annual Best New Year’s Decor contest for market businesses, fostering a culture of creativity and high standards. The competition has set a new benchmark for Nizhny Tagil’s café industry. By rewarding quality and innovation, it aims to attract more visitors and lift service standards across the city. Future editions could see even more businesses joining the push for excellence.
