Nako Properties vows to build 100 affordable homes in Accra's housing crisis

Jerry Osei Amoah, Managing Director of Nako Properties, has pledged to build 50 to 100 affordable homes in Accra. The announcement came during a recent media event in the city. His company, known for luxury housing, now aims to tackle the growing housing crisis facing low- and middle-income workers.

Accra's housing shortage has worsened due to rapid urban growth, rising populations, and widening income gaps. Many essential workers—including teachers, nurses, and young doctors—struggle to find decent accommodation. Government efforts so far have fallen short, largely because of high costs and limited affordability.

Osei Amoah, also called Nana Kobo, outlined plans to address these challenges. His approach includes new construction techniques, flexible rent options, and partnerships with public and private sectors. The goal is to provide quality housing for Ghanaians with modest incomes, such as civil servants and self-employed professionals. While Nako Properties has built a reputation for high-end developments, this initiative marks a shift toward social impact. The company will work alongside the government to deliver practical solutions. However, details on project timelines or exact numbers of homes remain unclear, as recent updates on construction phases are not yet available.

The pledge to construct 50 to 100 affordable homes could ease pressure on Accra's housing market. If successful, the project may set a precedent for private developers to engage in similar initiatives. For now, the focus remains on securing partnerships and finalising plans.
