MTU boosts dividend following strong earnings growth - MTU Aero Engines soars with record profits and a 60% income surge in 2025
MTU Aero Engines has reported strong financial growth in 2025, with profits and revenue rising sharply. The company now expects even higher earnings by 2026, alongside plans to increase shareholder payouts. This recovery follows a turbulent period during the pandemic when demand for its services plummeted.
Between 2020 and 2021, MTU faced a steep drop in demand for aircraft engines and maintenance. The COVID-19 pandemic grounded flights, leading to travel restrictions and supply chain disruptions. Geopolitical tensions, including the Ukraine war, later pushed fuel prices higher, adding pressure to the industry.
From 2022 onward, the company rebounded as air travel surged back. Annual revenue growth exceeded 20% by 2025, driven by rising long-haul flights in Asia and North America. In 2025 alone, adjusted operating earnings jumped 29% to €1.35 billion, while net income soared 60% to just over €1 billion.
Looking ahead, MTU forecasts adjusted revenue of €9.2 billion to €9.7 billion in 2026, up from €8.7 billion in 2025. Adjusted operating profit is also set to climb, reaching €1.35 billion to €1.45 billion. The company remains on course for its 2030 target of €13 billion to €14 billion in revenue.
Shareholders will benefit from this growth, with the dividend per share rising from €2.20 to €3.60.
MTU's financial turnaround reflects the broader recovery in global air travel. With higher profits and revenue projections, the company is now focusing on long-term growth. The increased dividend signals confidence in its future performance.
