Meme Token $ZACHXBT Hits $88M After Mystery Crypto Donation
A meme token named $ZACHXBT briefly surged to an $88 million market cap after an anonymous developer sent half its supply to a well-known crypto investigator. The incident follows a series of high-profile donations to ZachXBT’s legal defence fund, including a $600,000 contribution from Hyperliquid-linked wallets. Meanwhile, questions remain over the investigator’s handling of unsolicited meme tokens worth millions. The $ZACHXBT token gained sudden attention when an unknown creator allocated 50% of its total supply to ZachXBT’s wallet. Within hours, its market capitalisation spiked to roughly $88 million. The investigator later sold around $3.87 million worth of unsolicited meme tokens, stating he wanted to avoid any association with them.
Critics argued that the funds could have been redirected to fraud victims or investigations instead. ZachXBT has yet to provide a detailed public response to the broader allegations surrounding his actions. Separately, his defence fund received substantial support from major crypto firms. Binance, Bybit, and Paradigm were among the donors, alongside Hyperliquid, which contributed 10,000 HYPE tokens (valued up to $600,000). This donation came after ZachXBT published multiple critical posts about Hyperliquid’s operations. No direct evidence has linked Polymarket wallets to ZachXBT’s activities, despite claims that some addresses profited by $1.2 million ahead of one of his posts. None of the donors to his defence fund have since been investigated by him in high-profile cases.
The $ZACHXBT token’s brief surge and the investigator’s sale of unsolicited assets have sparked debate over transparency in crypto. Major exchanges and firms continue to back ZachXBT’s legal efforts, though no direct wrongdoing has been proven. The situation highlights ongoing tensions between crypto influencers, token creators, and their critics.
