Press Release from Region Mainfranken GmbH

Mainfranken's transform.RMF initiative helps SMEs navigate industrial upheaval

The key industries of mechanical engineering and automotive manufacturing are closely intertwined in the Mainfranken region. Many jobs—both directly and indirectly—depend on the vehicle and supplier industries.

At the same time, companies face major challenges: the shift away from conventional powertrains, new technological demands, and demographic change are placing particular strain on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

This is precisely where the transform.RMF initiative steps in. Its goal is to help businesses in Mainfranken successfully navigate this profound transformation.

transform.RMF is an innovation network focused on training, technology, and knowledge transfer in Mainfranken. Over the past three years, Region Mainfranken GmbH and Würzburg-Schweinfurt University of Applied Sciences (THWS) have jointly established and expanded the network.

Thanks to continued funding from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), transform.RMF will now extend into 2026.

As part of a joint initiative, numerous measures are being implemented, specifically targeting SMEs in the mechanical engineering and automotive sectors. The focus is on knowledge sharing, networking, and hands-on support throughout the transformation process.

These include, for example, short instructional videos on the website ("Learning Nuggets") as well as concise event formats like transformation.trainings and transformation.talks, each addressing specific topics and questions.

By extending transform.RMF, a vital program will continue, providing practical guidance to businesses in Mainfranken and actively supporting the region's structural change.
