Lünen launches free dementia care series for families in February 2026
A new five-part series called Living and Coping with Dementia will start in Lünen next February. Organised by the Adult Education Center (VHS Lünen), the programme supports family and friends caring for people with dementia. Registration is free but required through the centre's website under course number BD1205.2. The series begins on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at the St. Norbert Senior Center on Laakstraße 78. Each session runs from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM, continuing weekly until March 24, 2026.
Experienced speakers Marita Pechr and Kerstin Schymiczek will lead the programme. Both work full-time in senior care and will share practical advice on handling difficult situations and accessing respite care. The event is a joint effort by several organisations. These include Lünen's Senior Services Coordination Office, the Dementia Network, Unna District's Care and Housing Advisory Service, and the Dortmund Regional Office for Aging, Care, and Dementia. Their goal is to equip caregivers with essential skills and knowledge about dementia.
Participants must sign up in advance through VHS Lünen's registration system. The course number BD1205.2 secures a place in the series. Organisers have not yet disclosed the number of attendees for the upcoming sessions.
