Krasnodar Region Launches Business Support for SMO Veterans and Families

The Krasnodar Region is stepping up efforts to help veterans of the special military operation (SMO) and their families start businesses. New financial support measures, including grants, low-interest loans, and subsidies, have been introduced to encourage entrepreneurship among this group. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev has called this support a top regional priority. One key initiative is the 'SMO-i' programme, which offers preferential loans of up to 5 million rubles at just 2% annual interest. This scheme aims to reduce financial barriers for veterans looking to launch or expand their businesses. Additional security for these loans comes through the Business Development Fund, which provides guaranteed low-interest surety.

The region has also introduced a subsidy of up to 350,000 rubles through social contracts, managed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Development. This funding is part of Russia’s Family national project, designed to integrate SMO veterans into civilian economic life. Beyond business support, service members from Krasnodar who sign contracts with the Ministry of Defense receive a one-time payment of 3.4 million rubles, with an extra 6 million rubles after completing their first year in the SMO zone.

Agricultural businesses led by veterans can access the 'Agro-Motivator' grant, further broadening opportunities. The collaboration between the Business Development Fund and the local branch of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation ensures veterans receive guidance in setting up and growing their enterprises. These measures provide SMO veterans and their families with concrete financial tools to build independent careers. With loans, subsidies, and grants now available, the Krasnodar Region aims to turn military experience into sustainable business success. The programmes reflect a broader push to support those who have served in the special military operation.
