Krasnodar Krai's SME boom fuels record economic growth in Russia

Krasnodar Krai has seen a sharp rise in small and medium-sized businesses over the past five years. The number of SMEs has jumped by 23.5%, bringing the total to nearly 330,000. Governor Veniamin Kondratyev oversees a region now ranked fourth in Russia for both SMEs and self-employed workers. The growth spans all industries, with small and medium-sized enterprises now employing close to 1.4 million people. Another 800,000 residents are registered as self-employed, placing the region in the top three nationwide for individual entrepreneurs.

These businesses contribute significantly to the local economy. Their share of Krasnodar Krai’s gross regional product stands at 27.7%, reflecting their expanding role in the area’s financial activity.

The increase in SMEs and self-employed workers highlights the region’s economic development. With nearly a third of its workforce in this sector, Krasnodar Krai continues to strengthen its position as a key hub for small businesses in Russia. The figures confirm its status as one of the country’s leading regions for entrepreneurial activity.
