Kazakhstan's social enterprises surge to 1,431 in record growth

Kazakhstan's Registry of Social Enterprises has grown rapidly in the past year. By the end of 2025, the list included 1,431 organisations—almost twice as many as the 835 recorded at the close of 2024. The registry is updated annually after review by a special commission and approval from the Ministry of National Economy.

The registry relies on data submitted by local authorities. Each entry is checked by a commission before receiving final approval from the Ministry of National Economy. This process ensures only qualifying enterprises are included.

Most social enterprises in Kazakhstan focus on education, making up 60% of the total. Another 20% deliver social services, while 10% operate in healthcare. The remaining 10% cover other sectors.

The highest number of these enterprises are found in Astana and Almaty. West Kazakhstan Region, Almaty Region, and Abai Region also host significant concentrations. However, recent data does not provide details on growth trends in these areas over the past five years or comparisons with other regions.

The sharp rise in registered social enterprises reflects increased activity in the sector. Education remains the dominant field, followed by social services and healthcare. The government's annual review process continues to shape the registry's accuracy and scope.
